HOW TO GIVE YOURSELF A BIT OF A LIFT

When you’re running your own business, it can be hard to stay on an even keel.

By now I’m reassured that being a copywriter is something I love to do. I genuinely enjoy providing copywriting services for customers in Kingston, Surrey, London and beyond.

But it can be hard to cope with the emotional ups and downs of running your own business. As I said to someone recently, building a company is inspiring, stressful, thrilling and terribly scary – sometimes all on the same day.

I should be old enough and ugly enough to be able to maintain a phlegmatic and pragmatic approach to the challenges that confront you when you are growing your customer base and developing your brand.

It is extraordinary, though, how your mood can oscillate between buoyant confidence and sudden moments of nagging self-doubt.

You have days when the phone doesn’t ring, a potential client turns you down or an actual client isn’t totally happy with your work.

They provide a sobering contrast to the days when the phone doesn’t stop ringing, you get green lights all over the place and someone tells you how delighted they are with the service you provided.

I’m reassured by the fact that it’s not just me who goes through these ups and downs, peaks and troughs, mountains and crevasses.

Not long after I’d started life as a copywriter, I mentioned to a fellow business owner that I was looking forward to a time when things ran smoothly and predictably. Well, she said, I’ve been running my business for 14 years and I’m still waiting.

For now, when those awkward moments come along, I simply remind myself that LeBoo Media is growing, and I have enough satisfied customers that I be sure I can deal comfortably with pretty much any task that comes my way.

Because, no matter how well your business is going, every so often you will have one of those days.

It’s easy to say you just have to tap into that big old reservoir of resilience, put your chin up and get on with it.

One way I’ve found of giving myself an extra little boost is to look back over the testimonials I’ve received.

As you’ll see see elsewhere on this site, many clients of LeBoo Media have been kind enough to send through a few sentences about how much they have liked my work – and, crucially, the difference it has made to their business.

The simple act of collating those testimonials, at the end of one of those days recently, restored the spring to my step and the smile to my face.

Next time the clouds gather, I’ll know where to go to encourage the sun to drive them away.

If you want to join the growing list of clients who have been delighted by the copywriting service they’ve received from LeBoo Media, please get in touch.
